SpyGuard2008 or SpywareGuard2008 is a phony spyware cleaner program (rogue anti-spyware software) promoted by various trojan threats that uses false positives and bogus system alerts to scare victims into buying the “licensed” Spy Guard 2008 program version. SpyGuard2008 is generally spread through strange spam e-mail attachments, suspicious shareware and file sharing tools or through pornographic adult web sites. Once inside, Spy Guard 2008 will activate infected uninstall.exe, reged.exe, olesys.dll, Spyware-Defence-2008.lnk, syscert.exe files in Windows folders to hide itself from firewall programs.
