Vundo.gen.y is a memory resident trojan that may inject itself into explorer.exe, record keystrokes, communicate with malicious website and randomly displays advertisements. Upon installation, trojan Gen.y will installs mischievous iexplore.exe, winlogon.exe, khffwpqo.dll, yayabrlf.dll, explorer.exe files and hide from security utilities by injecting itself into low level system processes. Vundo.gen.y infects systems through shareware/freeware, ActiveX, video codec and file-sharing program downloads or through adult content web sites. Vundo.gen.y may steal confidential information and cause severe damage to Windows system files.
